Holly & Ivy Adds Jordan House To Magnificent Mansions TourOctober 29, 2007 The historic Jordan House in West Des Moines will join Terrace Hill and Salisbury House in the 11th season of Holly & Ivy.
The holiday tours are scheduled for December 7, 8 and 9, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from noon until 4 p.m. Sunday. All tours begin at either Salisbury House or Terrace Hill, where tickets are available at the door.
The Jordan House was built in 1852 and enlarged in 1872. It remained in the Jordan family until the 1940s. It is currently owned by the West Des Moines Historical Society. The stately Victorian Italianate Gothic home is the oldest structure in West Des Moines and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Sixteen period rooms are filled with antique treasures. Once part of the Underground Railroad, the home also offers an underground exhibit about the pathway to freedom from slavery.
