Third in Series, First in Demand

2008

Terrace Hill with Peacock, Amy Worthens third copperplate engraving of Terrace Hill, was unveiled at a breakfast reception in the library at Terrace Hill on May 31, 2008. The event centered on the internationally renowned artist and her long-anticipated print. It had been nearly 30 years since Worthen had captured an image of Terrace Hill. Following the reception, the artist welcomed the public at a date-of-release sale event in the carriage house at Terrace Hill.

The unveiling was performed by art patron Robert E. Josten, the former chair of the Terrace Hill Commission. Josten underwrote the development of Worthens most-recent work as a gift to the Terrace Hill Foundation. His generosity made it possible for the Foundation to offer the limited edition of 100 originals to the public at a very reasonable price: $300 each (plus shipping and handling) a fraction of what a comparable Worthen print sells for in an art gallery. When sales are concluded, the revenue from these prints will contribute significantly to the annual fundraising goal for the Foundation.

The Foundation is responsible for providing the resources for the restoration, maintenance and development of Terrace Hill as a premier National Historic Landmark and as an educational and cultural center for current and future generations.

In anticipation of the print and its popular demand, art collectors and patrons of Terrace Hill had reserved for purchase sight unseen one-fourth of the prints prior to the unveiling. A few of the 100 remain available for purchase by calling 515-280-3450.
