Ebenezer Encore!By Jacqueline Devine 2006 The premiere season of Ebenezer & The Spirit of Giving launched a new tradition for the holidays. An adaptation of Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer was written and produced by Iowa playwright Lorenzo Sandoval and performed by leading regional actors in the holiday-festive rooms of Terrace Hill.
If you missed the premiere season of Ebenezer & The Spirit of Giving, you wont want to miss the 2006 encore performances. Performance dates will be announced in the summer issue of Landmark and on the Terrace Hill website. Advance sale tickets will be available in July. Performances will again be followed by “Curtain Call Receptions,” where the audience meets the cast while enjoying lavish desserts.
2005 audience member and Foundation Treasurer Holly Olson said, “Ebenezer was a truly unique theatre experience. The action wasnt on a distant stage; it was right there in front of you. The emotion was palpable, and the drama was so real.” Veteran actor John Busbee, who played the demanding lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge, wrote, “Thank you for the wonderful experience of Ebenezer. I have been involved in a wide range of performances, and this ranks as one of the best.” Terrace Hill Administrator Dave Cordes summarized the event as “spellbinding.”
On behalf of the large cast of actors in 26 character roles, the staff and 33 volunteers who helped bring Terrace Hill to life in a new way, we sincerely hope you will experience Ebenezer in 2006.
