New Charger Plates Grace Tables for Formal Dinners

Dining at Terrace Hill is always a special event. Not only is the setting spectacular and the food delicious, the china is beautiful. The Official State Seal China by Pickard is bone with gold trim and stands out against new charger or service plates purchased with proceeds from First Lady Teas.

“The new service plates are a stunning cobalt blue that really complement the Official State China, said First Lady Christie Vilsack. I also like the fact that the new service plates are reminiscent of the Hubbell china.”

The State Seal china was acquired in 1969 shortly after former First Lady Billie Ray moved into the Governor’s mansion at 2900 Grand Avenue. Ray arranged for a local contact to get a good price, and then explored possible funding. “It ended up that the Republican women’s organization in each of the 99 counties provided a place setting,” said Ray.
