OPEN FOR TOURING

2007

Have you wanted to tour the imposing contemporary Victorian home high on a hill on the north side of the city? The Terrace Hill Society is planning a tour of the home of Jerry and Betsey Munn on Mothers Day, May 13. The Munns, owner of the Majestic Lion antique emporium at 5048 NW Second Avenue in Des Moines, built their one-of-a-kind home in Johnston in 2001.

The Munns, antique collectors for more than 20 years, purchased the oak staircase, the cherry library and large stained-glass window especially for their dream house. The pieces came from a 1890s Des Moines home that was demolished in 1953 to make way for Veterans’ Auditorium. A salvage collector originally purchased the pieces when the home was torn down, and the Munns acquired the items from his estate.

The home, brimming with antiques and artifacts, contains features to fascinate home enthusiasts and those who love Victorian style.

Mark May 13 on your calendar. Details will be available soon.
