Treasures in Your Attic2009 Do you have hopes of striking it rich with an item in your attic? Have you always been curious about its value? Your window of opportunity is quickly approaching: Sunday, the April 19, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at West End Architectural Salvage, located at 22 Ninth Street in downtown Des Moines.
There will be 16 experts on hand to share their knowledge and to give evaluations at $5 per item. Evaluators will be speaking on their areas of expertise throughout the event. This year, Treasures in Your Attic also features a fashion show presented by Second Hand Rose Antiques, from 2413 University Avenue. In addition, a representative will be present from Christophers on Merle Hay Road, dealers in gold and silver. Christophers will be giving evaluations and purchasing gold items attendees may want to sell. A portion of the proceeds from gold purchases will be donated to the Terrace Hill Society.
Ample parking is available next to the intriguing 1913 building, which was a grocery warehouse for decades. Several years ago, the building was purchased by Don Short, who is again donating use of the building for this event. West End Architectural Salvage offers four floors of treasures to explore. The West End Coffee bar is located on the first floor.
Bring your treasures and a friend for a fun and, perhaps, profitable afternoon. No tickets required. The event is FREE; pay only $5 for each evaluation. This will be the Societys primary fundraising event of the year.
